- ...entities
- Free-standing entity is not an
actual frame in the ontology; we use the term when describing the
top-level organization of the ontology in order to distinguish between
objects and events on the one hand and properties on the other.
- ...EVENTs.
- There is no separate concept for states
in the
K ontology. A state is merely a reified property of a
concept.
- ...concept
- or the special symbol *nothing* used to block
inheritance
- ...NON-VERBAL-COMMUNICATIVE-ACTs.
- We use the term EVENT
almost always. The term act is used only for certain subclasses
of COMMUNICATIVE-EVENTs to rhyme with the well-known concept of
SPEECH-ACTs. However, the terms activity and EVENT
are often used interchangeably for EVENTs under SOCIAL-EVENTs.
- ...professions.
- It is not always easy to determine whether an
EVENT is a WORK-ACTIVITY or a NON-WORK-ACTIVITY. For
example, PLAY-SPORT has been placed under NON-WORK-ACTIVITY but could very well be under WORK-ACTIVITY,
especially if we consider the present day lucrative professions in sports.
