Corporations, Mergers and Acquisitions: The Domain

Most objects in the domain of company mergers and acquisitions can be found under the three main branches of SOCIAL-OBJECTs: ORGANIZATION, SOCIAL-ROLE, and GEOPOLITICAL-ENTITYs. One other source of objects in the domain is the FINANCIAL-OBJECT tree under MENTAL-OBJECTs in the ontology. Most events in the domain fall under SOCIAL-EVENTs. Important subtrees under SOCIAL-EVENTs are WORK-ACTIVITY and its BUSINESS-ACTIVITY branch, POSSESSION-EVENTs, and FINANCIAL-EVENTs.

Most RELATIONs that are important to the domain lie under SOCIAL-RELATIONs in the OBJECT-RELATION tree. In addition, CASE-ROLEs and SPATIAL-RELATIONs are also encountered frequently in this and other domains. Attributes of interest to the domain are usually under SCALAR-SOCIAL-OBJECT-ATTRIBUTEs and their literal counterparts SOCIAL-OBJECT-ATTRIBUTEs.
