MENTAL-OBJECTs are divided into ABSTRACT-OBJECTs and REPRESENTATIONAL-OBJECTs. ABSTRACT-OBJECTs include such concepts as BEAUTY, CULTURE, and so on. A significant subtree in this region of the ontology is the FIELD-OF-STUDY tree which is an incomplete yet fairly large classification of fields of human learning. REPRESENTATIONAL-OBJECTs subsume a variety of MENTAL-OBJECTs include MATHEMATICAL-OBJECTs, NAMEs, MEASURING-UNITs, various MEDIA-OBJECTs, LEGAL-OBJECTs, LANGUAGE-RELATED-OBJECTs, and TEMPORAL-OBJECTs. Two of the more significant subtrees for our domain are FINANCIAL-OBJECTs and COMMERCIAL-OBJECTs. FINANCIAL-OBJECTs include all REPRESENTATIONAL-OBJECTs that have a financial value such as ASSETs, MONEY, and TAXes. COMMERCIAL-OBJECTs, on the other hand, include those REPRESENTATIONAL-OBJECTs that are used in the conduct of commerce and business but do not have an inherent financial value. Some parts of the MENTAL-OBJECT tree are shown in Figure 5.
