MENTAL-EVENTs are classified into EMOTIONAL-EVENTs, COGNITIVE-EVENTs, COMMUNICATIVE-EVENTs, and PERCEPTUAL-EVENTs. PERCEPTUAL-EVENTs are also under PHYSICAL-EVENTs and are classified into VOLUNTARY-PERCEPTUAL-EVENTs and INVOLUNTARY-PERCEPTUAL-EVENTs. COMMUNICATIVE-EVENTs are also listed under SOCIAL-EVENTs. In fact, one of its subclasses, NONVERBAL-COMMUNICATIVE-ACT is unique in that it is a mental, physical, and a social event. COGNITIVE-EVENTs are classified into ACTIVE-COGNITIVE-EVENTs and PASSIVE-COGNITIVE-EVENTs based on the presence of AGENTs and EXPERIENCER in them. As a rule, PASSIVE-COGNITIVE-EVENTs have only EXPERIENCERs; they do not have AGENTs. The classification of MENTAL-EVENTs is shown in Figure 10.
