MINDS - Personal Profiles
Introduction
The MINDS system is intended to track published information about 12 political figures and 5
types of
events across the world and be able to -
add new information to each person's archival profile by
extracting rele
vant information on particular events in which that person participates
and tran
sforming this information into a canonical data format (this is a data
fusion task)
provide an English summary of the activities of the person
over a period
of time based on documents in a number of languages and from a number
of sources
provide on-demand translations and summarizations of selected
sources (articles, wire messages) from a number of source languages into English.
The system will rely on an extension of the Mikrokosmos ontology to
describe the
personal profiles and event types and on multilingual onomastica
(translated lists of proper names) to support the above functionalities.
The links below show some mock ups of the types of profiles we hope to
produce. The last of these, on Alberto Fujimori, is more skeletal, but
shows keyword links to texts in the source language derived using the
Temple translation system and the MINDS core summarization engine.
