| CRL's Glossary tool is for custom text resources created on demand by individual users. For a given user, the range of available glossaries is controllable by configuration variables. One translator may be interested in Spanish versions of texts about human rights issues, while another may be more interested in texts and translations about trade problems.
The Glossary tool is designed to form a bridge between the Dictionary tool, the dictionary resource for relatively fixed reference works, and Translation Memory, the resource for examining previous translations in their original textual context. Using the Glossary Tool, you can create a complete custom dictionary or a small thesaurus, or simply add notes to be searched at a later time.
Like CRL's other searchable resources, your searches will be automatically expanded by a fuzzy matching scheme if your initial search fails. Fuzzy expansion can be helpful in cases where the exact form of a search term is not known, or where you may not recall the spelling of a term.
Off-line creation of glossaries is supported for existing documents that follow an SGML markup scheme.
