Message-ID: <200808072212.m77MC5hY083373@tenma.swcp.com> Let me apologize again for the delay in getting the NMORS standings together this year. They are finally taking shape. The first three races are now posted on the Results page at NMCycling.org There are always duplicates which creep in like 'Dave Kraig' vs 'David Kraig', and 'Annmarie' vs 'Ann Marie' so please point those out to me as you see them. And please be consistent with how you sign up for the individual races to help minimize this. This is directed to everyone - I do not mean to point out Davey and Annie explicitly. Who every typed the results up could be the source of the inconsistency. As always, please pass along any riders ages and hometowns which I do not have in the database (age of 1 means I do not know it). Now that we (Tom Spross and I) have muddled through this year's errors getting the database up and running again at NMCycling.org I'll be able to incorporate the other NMORS races and bring this thing in. Seems as we have problems like this each year. Looking over my previous year's copious notes is not difficult or time consuming as they are neither copious nor existent. My copious is full of beerious and my mind is rather delirious. Tom Spross deserves a great deal of thanks here. He is still tending the website and is the only one who knows how to make this racing database work from the website. So, D-Harry, to you want to be Dave or David? And Ms. Bailey, I've never been sure whether it's Annmarie or Ann Marie. OK, now I'll start my For Sale postings. Lessee, I have not one but two new Gary Fisher Paragon 29er frames, a new Rock Shox Reba 29er fork, some Avid BB5 disk brakes, Shimano 9-speed bar end shifters, not to mention an entire funny bike (26" front wheel) - it was originally a hilarious bike (20" front wheel) but I kept feeling like I was going to go over the bars at any little bump so enuf of that...I've had enough prior head injuries culminating in a major head explosion a couple of years back now. Thanks for listening, --Cliff _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria. — Ben Franklin Cliff Loucks Albuquerque New Mexico From loucks at swcp.com Thu Aug 7 16:58:15 2008 From: loucks at swcp.com (Cliff Loucks) Date: Thu, 7 Aug 2008 16:58:15 -0600 (MDT) Subject: [bmba] NMORS Hometowns Message-ID: <200808072258.m77MwFpf086224@tenma.swcp.com> No, you all didn't move. I have a lot of new ideas to share with everyone, so here's the agenda for our next meeting/social gathering at Sunset Pizza, Monday Sept. 1 at 7 pm.... Slide show presenting new ideas to club Address all matters of business Logo contest (see website for details www.bmba.wordpress.com) Highlight video from Jen and Dave's summer of fun The trails in the northeast are in STELLAR condition. I've never been able to rail turns as fast up there as now. They are really tacky. Word from the park guys is that the trails on the west side are in pretty good condition. Some roads took a beating and of course the arroyo crossings will be a bit tough until a few dozen of us start to pound in a new line. So get out there and ride so they don't get completely grown over! Dave _________________________________________________________________ See what people are saying about Windows Live. Places that were very rideable just two months ago were heavily gullied and many of the washes have flown wiping out the trail in the wash bottoms. Places that were heavily eroded before the rains are nearly impassible now. In addition to the erosion, the white thorn has grown into the trail to the extent that the trail will be completely choked off in a couple of years. South of the Bishop's Cap trailhead, the trail ends at the wash with a three foot drop. What it is like below that I do not know. I would like to organize two teams to do the work of repairing the damage, greatly trimming back the vegetation, and rerouting some of trail that has turned into loose rock gardens and rock gully's. Basically restore the trail to what it once was. One team would work up from the south (I would be willing to lead that team) and the other would work from the north. We would start this project in mid to late October and we should finish, hopefully, by the end of the year. If you are willing to lend a hand or want to lead the north team, please email me at mikel at fastwave.biz or call 644-1763. If we don't do something soon, I am afraid we will lose this wonderful trail. Of course, if anyone wants to go and work independently, they are more than welcome. Or would like go Advanced and do the Expert Course, which adds another 9 miles and maybe 1400 feet of climbing (adding a spin around the Beginner loop east side trails including the Cathedral loop). Unless we're talked out of it, we're probably going to go with the Advanced Single Speed route, but don't want folks saying we didn't ask. :-) daveh -- -- www.nmors.org http://gotdirtnm.blogspot.com ..........O................................................ / ^ ^ \ ........./ \ ,...................................... / ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ \ .......- \ - .............................../ ^ ^ ^ ^ / ^ ^ \ ^\ ........./ ( * )................ / ^ ^ ^ / ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ....( * ) / ^ ^ ^ ^ / ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ..^ ^ ^ From Jimgarcia65 at cs.com Sat Aug 16 20:34:42 2008 From: Jimgarcia65 at cs.com (Jimgarcia65 at cs.com) Date: Sat, 16 Aug 2008 22:34:42 EDT Subject: [bmba] Horny Toad Hustle - SS or ASS? Just cruising to burn some calories so I could have a beer with dinner. My helmet light was on. The day light had faded away, and it was less than 15 minutes to hard dark. I had come out of the Serpentine and was motorin' south down the undulating singletrack. There is a strange sound ahead of me. Plus it looks like a big, gray rock is moving by the trail. Then this gray turns and has bright spots for eyes. A javelina - the first I've seen in the wild. I lock up the brakes to a stop. The beast trots across the trail to a rise about 30 feet away and looks at me with a sideways stare. It wasn't that big. About the size of my 50 pound dalmatian (but a bit stockier). So I expect it was a juvenile. I look around to see if there were any others. Didn't see any. Got on the bike and sped away. Of course, after that I felt frosty and was hyper-alert to every sound - like when I flushed a couple of birds and then almost ran into them mid-air. A well-earned and tasty beer for, um, I mean, *with* dinner. -- -- www.nmors.org http://gotdirtnm.blogspot.com ..........O................................................ / ^ ^ \ ........./ \ ,...................................... / ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ \ .......- \ - .............................../ ^ ^ ^ ^ / ^ ^ \ ^\ ........./ ( * )................ / ^ ^ ^ / ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ....( * ) / ^ ^ ^ ^ / ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ..^ ^ ^ From bmbaelpaso at hotmail.com Mon Aug 18 11:39:01 2008 From: bmbaelpaso at hotmail.com (BMBA El Paso) Date: Mon, 18 Aug 2008 11:39:01 -0600 Subject: [bmba] trails in good condition Message-ID: Hey all, Some people have been throwing out rumors about bad trail conditions.....El Paso's trails are in good shape.
