Subject: [bmba] Survey markers at Heinrich....New park hours

I just exchanged a few emails with Cesar Mendez and the State Park and Chuck Kooshian with the city in regards to some survey markers and flagging behind Heinrich.
 
It's good news!  The PSB is flagging off 1600 acres that will most likely be sold to the park.  So please do not mess with these markers.
 
Also, the Tom May's unit will be opening at 6:30 am Saturdays and Sundays starting this Saturday.  They are also conducting a user survey....please take some time to complete it.

Mesilla Complete Streets Resolution. The meeting will?

number of people there in support of an issue they move items?

Unfortunately Eric and I won't be able to attend the meeting?

tonight due to other commitments.?This resolution is similar to?

a Complete Streets ?resolution from the Las Cruces MPO?

Policy Committee. We would like to see it passed and any members

of the bicycling public who can attend will increase the likely hood

of that happening. This resolution is an important first?

step towards getting commitment from the trustees and the town?

to developing other measures to make the roads safer for?

bicyclists and pedestrians.?




Mesilla has already shown commitment to bicycling thru their support

of developing a Safe Routes to School Program and supporting the?

Mesilla Ride of Silence. This resolution will formalize that commitment

even further.?




If you can go tonight please feel free to mention that you support this

resolution and why it is important to you as a bicyclist (or a pedestrian). Even if you?

are not a resident of Mesilla this is still relevant to you because most

of you probably ride thru Mesilla and we hope that Las Cruces?

will also adopt a similar resolution in the near future.?

2. Elements of a Good Complete Streets Policy

A good complete streets policy:

Aims to create a comprehensive, integrated, connected network.
 
Recognizes the need for flexibility: that all streets are different and user needs will be balanced.

Makes any exceptions specific and sets a clear procedure that requires high-level approval of exceptions.
 
Directs the use of the latest and best design standards.
 
Directs that complete streets solutions fit in with context of the community.
 
Establishes performance standards with measurable outcomes.
 

2.5 Implementation

An effective complete streets policy should prompt transportation agencies to:
 
 
Restructure their procedures to accommodate all users on every project.
 
Re-write their design manuals to encompass the safety of all users.
 
Re-train planners and engineers in balancing the needs of diverse users.
 
Create new data collection procedures to track how well the streets are serving all users.

be two separate series events (Hill Climb on Saturday and XC on Sunday).

We're working on the database for Series standings to date - and should have
something relatively soon.
